The Good Life

Still trying to get over

The marriage I had

I was never divorced

But it was really bad

It ended when my husband

Was no longer alive

I lived through hell

But at least I survived

Life now is good

I’m happy at last

I refuse to be a prisoner

Of the past

I write poetry and paint

Went back to school so

We’ll see where it takes me

And where I will go

As for my daughter

I wish her well too

We want to live a good life

Loving and true
